Day Trips

Summer/Fall

  • Large Day Pack (2000-3000 cu.)*
  • 2 Liters of Water (large mouth nalgene® recommended)
  • Hiking Boots (above the ankle, well broken in, waterproof)
  • Headlamp or Flashlight w/ Batteries *
  • Mountain Clothing (Think warm and dry, remember layering)
  • Base layer of polypro, wool, capilene®, cool max® bergilene® (top and bottom)
  • Mid layer of fleece or wool (top and bottom)
  • Windproof/water resistant layer gore-tex®, sympatex®,H2O No® (top and bottom)
  • Pair of mittens or gloves
  • Warm hat
  • Wool Socks
  • Synthetic or wool sock liners if have trouble with blisters
  • Eye protection (sunglasses)
  • Lunch (granola bars, trail mix, powerbars®, cliff bars®, bagels w/peanut butter)*
  • SAO and BUOC waiver forms
  • Positive attitude
  • Optional items: sunscreen, bug repellent, crazy creek chairs®, cameras, etc.)

Winter/Spring

  • Hiking Boots w/NEOS®* (above the ankle, well broken in, waterproof)
  • Crampons/Microspikes*
  • Headlamp or Flashlight w/ Batteries*
  • Mountain Clothing (Think warm and dry, remember layering)
  • Base layer of polypro, wool, capilene®, cool max® bergilene® (top and bottom)
  • Mid layer of fleece or wool (top and bottom)
  • Windproof/water resistant layer gore-tex®, sympatex®,H2O No® (top and bottom)
  • Down Jacket and/or wool/fleece pile jacket
  • 2 Pair of warm waterproof mittens or gloves
  • Warm hat
  • Wool Socks
  • Synthetic or wool sock liners (optional)

Overnight Trips

  • Sleeping Bag (appropriate temperature rating for season)*
  • Sleeping Pad (therma-rest®, ridge-rest®, z-rest®)*
  • 2 Liters of Water (large mouth nalgene® recommended)*
  • Mug /Tupperware container with Lid/spoon
  • Hiking Boots (above the ankle, well broken in, waterproof)
  • Headlamp or Flashlight w/ Batteries *
  • Mountain Clothing (Think warm and dry, remember layering)
  • Nylon hiking shorts
  • Base layer of polypro, wool, capilene®, cool max® bergilene® (top and bottom)
  • Mid layer of fleece or wool (top and bottom)
  • Windproof/water resistant layer gore-tex®, sympatex®,H2O No® (top and bottom)
  • Pair of mittens or gloves
  • Warm hat
  • Wool Socks (minimum 2pr)
  • Synthetic or wool sock liners (optional if have blister issues)
