Welcome to the new school year! We like to start the year off by kayaking down the Charles River!

When

Saturday September 10th at 9am-1pm, meet at BU Beach

What You’ll Need

  • Comfortable Clothes
  • Food/Water (There may be an ice cream truck when we are done but we can’t promise.
  • The Urge to have a Great Time!

Costs

The Trip will cost $15/person if you pay on Thursday and $20/person if you show up the day of.

Lake George 4/22-4/26

Here we go (to LG) again! Lake George is located in Upstate, NY among the Adirondack Mountains. It’s crazy clear water and ridiculous geography make it a summer vacation spot for a ton of people. We will get there before them and climb some of my favorite mountains around: ¬†the tongue mountain range. Oh yeah, and I live there, so we’re staying Friday at my house and will be getting Easter brunch there before we leave on Sunday! …One day you might possibly tell your grandchildren about this trip maybe.

What: Hiking, backpacking, lean too staying in, Easter brunch eating, ect.

Where: Tongue Mountain Range, Lake George NY

Date and Time: Depart 5:00 pm Friday the 22nd, Will be back by Sunday the 24th at 4:00 pm

Departure  Location and Time: BU Beach at 4:45pm this Friday

Difficulty: Moderate, a few steep sections, but totally worth it for the view of the lake.

Transportation:¬†Nora’s Car

What You Need

Equipment:

  • Hiking backpack
  • Good hiking boots
  • Sleeping bag.

Clothing:

Bring warm clothes and dress in layers.
  • 2 pairs of non-cotton socks
  • Long underwear type shirts
  • Light jacket
  • Fleece of Vest
  • Pants that will remain warm if they get wet.

If you have any questions about what to bring give me a call.

Food:

We (including my mom) will be providing most of the meals. We will probably stop for dinner on the way there on friday so bring a little money or get dinner to go

IOCA 4/15-4/17

What: LONG WEEKEND! WOOT WOOT!! We can finally take two days to chill out of the city and travel to the great outdoors. This time we’re traveling to MIT’s Camelot Cabin for their annual IOCA event. The cabin is close to some great trails and well known climbing spots. Lots to do out there and you decide what trip you want to go on. Plus MIT’s hosting a dinner and party for us all!

Difficulty: Whatever you want it to be

Where: MIT’s Camelot Cabin in Rumney, NH

Date and Time: 8:00pm Friday – Sunday 12:00pm noon (2 nights)

Departure Location and Time: BU Beach at 5:30-6:00pm

Transportation: We have a 7 passenger car and will give a trip discount to anyone who can provide a car.

Weather: Mid 50s with a chance of rain.

What You Need:

  • Money for one dinner on the way up
  • Flashlight
  • Water
  • Rain gear
  • Wear layers- preferably no cotton
  • Hiking shoes/regular sneaker are fine.
  • Climbing gear if you have it.

Fee: $40

Temple Mountain Day Hike 4/10

What: Hike through the scenic coastal region south of Boston with views of the skyline

Where: World’s End

Date and Time: 10:30AM – 5:00PM Sunday, 4/10/11

Departure Location and Time: Marsh Plaza

Difficulty: Easy

Transportation: The T

What You Need

  • Equipment: None!
  • Clothing: Wear layers, it shoud be about 50 degrees
  • Food: Bring lunch and water

Max Attendance: 20

Fee: Just bring money to the event to pay for the T, around $6 including the train

Middlesex Fells Day Hike 4/2

“The trail follows the outer perimeter of the western Fells. There ar spectacular views of Boston and the surrounding area. Most of the Skyline trail is in wooded landscape, with several steep ascents to rocky outcrops.”

Amesbury Sports Park Snowtubing 

What: 3 hours of snowtubing

 

Where: Amesbury Sports Park in Amesbury, MA

Date and Time: Saturday, February 19th from 10AM – 4PM

Departure  Location and Time: BU Beach at 10AM

Difficulty: Easy, no experience necessary. Purely fun!

Transportation: Car

What You Need

Equipment: None! We’ll be renting snowtubes at the park.

Clothing: Warm, waterproof clothes (snow pants, warm/waterproof socks, boots, etc). Whatever you would wear to go sledding.

Food: Bring your own lunch, or money to buy lunch at the sports park.

Max Attendance: 15

Fee: $30 (for tickets and gas money)

Snowshoeing Part 2 – 2/13

Hey BUOC!

Are all of your papers, essays and midterms causing stress and anxiety? Take a break from your hard work and come snowshoeing with us this weekend (weather permitting)!* We will be hosting another trip to Middlesex Fells this Sunday for those of you who were unable to make it the first time around!

The Departure meeting is Thursday, February 10th. Sign up for the trip below and come to Thursday’s meeting to pay the $20 fee for the snowshoe rental. You must bring money then in order to attend the trip. Hurry! Space is Limited

Middlesex Felles Snow Shoeing

What: 4 mile hike with snowshoes

Where: Middlesex Fells Reservation,

Date and Time: This Sunday the 13th 10:00AM to 4:00PM

Departure  Location and Time: Marsh Plaza at 10:00 AM

Difficulty: Easy/Moderate, NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, we?ll give you a little how-to session before we start

Transportation: Hour-long T ride or 30min Bicycle Ride

What You Need

Equipment: None! We?ll supply the snowshoes (unless you have some) DONT FORGET YOUR T PASS/CHARLIE CARD

Clothing: Warm + Layers + Thick socks (the weather predicts 35 degrees woooo)

Food: snacks, water, lunch

Max Attendance: 15-20

Fee: $20 to BUOC for the snowshoe rental and money for the T  (Accepting payments until Saturday @ 12pm)

*There is a chance of cancellation if there is not enough snow and in this case you would be fully refunded at the next meeting.
